THE process begins with the paper in water until it is in pulp form then the water is strained from the pulp until tacky and damp. A bit of powdered plater is added to act as a binding agent. Each sculpture begins with discarded junk mail—fragments of daily life, shredded and broken down to their raw fibers. In the pulping process, these fibers separate, then reconnect, forming new bonds and relationships, much like the way ideas, histories, and societies reshape themselves over time
